The short version. This site sets no cookies, shows no ads, and builds no profile of you. We count page views anonymously. If you write to us, we use what you send only to reply. The learning games keep everything on your own device. We do not sell or share personal information.
mehdee.com is the personal, non-commercial site of The Mehdees, a family telling an illustrated survival story on YouTube, alongside wildlife photography and free learning games for kids. This policy covers mehdee.com and the games at math.mehdee.com, science.mehdee.com and word.mehdee.com. Questions go through the contact form.
We do not use cookies, advertising scripts, social media pixels or fingerprinting. We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count page views. It sets no cookie, does not identify you, and does not follow you to other sites. It records things like the page visited, the referring site, and the browser and country, in aggregate.
The homepage stores one small flag in your browser’s session storage so the opening title card plays only once per visit. It never leaves your device and disappears when you close the tab.
The site is hosted on Cloudflare, which, like any web host, processes your IP address and basic request details to deliver pages and protect the site from abuse. See Cloudflare’s privacy policy.
If you use the contact form, we receive what you type: your email address, your name if you give it, and your message, including any details about a photograph you want to use. The form is delivered by Formspree, which stores the submission and forwards it to us by email (Formspree’s privacy policy). We use it only to answer you, and for licensing, to keep a record of what was agreed. We delete it when it is no longer needed for that.
Episodes play from YouTube. Nothing from YouTube loads until you press play, and then the player comes from youtube-nocookie.com, YouTube’s privacy-enhanced mode. Once you press play, or follow a link to YouTube or Instagram, those services’ own policies apply: Google and Instagram. Thumbnails of published episodes load from YouTube’s image servers, which see the same basic request details any web server would.
The games ask for a first name so they can greet the player and print it on the report card. That name, and every answer, star and score, is kept in the browser’s local storage on that one device. It is never sent to us or anyone else. There are no accounts, logins, emails or passwords. The only thing that reaches a server is the same anonymous page-view count described above. Clearing the browser’s site data, or the reset control in the games, erases it all.
The games are made for children, and they are built so that no personal information about a child is collected at all. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. The contact form is meant for adults. If you believe a child has sent us personal information through it, tell us through the same form and we will delete it.
We do not sell, rent or share personal information, and we do not use it for advertising. The only services that process data on our behalf are the ones named above: Cloudflare for hosting and analytics, and Formspree for the contact form.
You can ask what we hold about you, and ask us to correct or delete it, through the contact form. In practice that is only ever a contact form message. Depending on where you live, laws such as the GDPR or the California Consumer Privacy Act give you these rights; we honour them for everyone. Where the GDPR applies, we rely on our legitimate interest in running and protecting the site, and on your request when you write to us.
The site is served over HTTPS only. We keep the data we receive to a minimum, which is the best protection there is.
If what we collect changes, this page changes with it, and the date at the top is updated.
