Every so often someone asks whether they can use one of my photos, for a print on the wall, a blog post, a project at work, whatever it is. The answer is usually yes, on request, and the process is simple. Here's how it works, in plain language.
First, the honest part
I photograph as a hobby, not as a business. I'm not for hire, I don't run shoots or workshops, and there's no shopping cart with fixed prices. What I'm happy to do is let people use or print the photos that already exist in the galleries. So this isn't a store, it's a conversation.
How to ask
Two easy ways:
- From any photo: open the image you like in the galleries and choose "Request permission to use this photo." That tells me exactly which one you mean.
- From the contact page: just message me and mention the photo.
Either way, tell me two things: which photo, and how you'd like to use it, whether that's a personal print, something editorial, or a commercial use. With that, I can give you a straight answer.
What it costs
It depends on the image and the use, so there's no single price list. A personal print is a different thing from a commercial license, and I'd rather quote the real situation than post a made up number. Ask about the specific photo and use, and you'll get a clear price back, no pressure and no hard sell.
Prints
Prints work the same way. Send me the photo and the size you have in mind, and I'll get you a quote. Because it's on request, you can ask about sizes or framing and we'll sort out what actually works for the image you want.
Who owns the photos
All of the images here are my own work, credited and copyrighted, which is why use is by permission rather than a free download. Getting in touch first keeps it simple and fair for both of us.
That's really all there is to it. When you're ready, use the request link on any photo, or head to the contact page. More quick answers live on the FAQ.
